I’m a veggie burger addict. I was born and raised eating them! I I fell in love with specifically black bean burgers. So one day, I decided to try making them myself! And here’s how I did it...
You’re going to need...
1 cup cooked Black beans (we soak them the night before and then pressure cook them)
1 and a 1/2 tablespoon whole wheat flour
Non-dairy cheese (optional)
1 tablespoon Onion powder
1 tablespoon Garlic powder
1 teaspoon Organic ground Flax seeds
1/2 teaspoon pink himalayan salt
Step 1: If beans have been refrigerated, heat them up in a small pan to separate the liquid. If the beans are not cold, move on to step 2.
Step 2: (warning, this step will get messy!) Put cooled beans in a nut bag and drain excess water. If you don’t have a nut bag, any strainer will do.
Step 3: Put black beans into a bowl, mash with a fork. Then add flax seeds, flour, salt, garlic powder and onion powder. Mix.
Step 4: Shape the mixture into your patty! Then put your patty in a dish/plastic bag, and put in your freezer for 30 - 60 minutes to harden.
Step 5: Put your patty in a non-stick frying pan with less than a teaspoon of oil. I used olive oil but any preferred oil will do. Flip when browned on one side. Then add the cheese and let it melt. Once the cheese is melted, take your burger off the stove.
Step 6. Put your patty on a bun and add whatever toppings you would like! (ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, onions etc)
